Powerhouse

We’ve all been there. We’ve all experienced tough moments where our shortfalls overwhelm us. Moments where we can’t get our junk together, can’t impress people enough, and can’t be meet the world’s demands. These defining moments strip us of our innate, God-given value and purpose.

Yes. I know. Life is sticky. There are many situations that create opportunities to make us feel cheapened. There is the guy that chose his career over a relationship with me. The boss that ignored me like the plague and never affirmed my laborious work. The doctor (and WebMD) revealing a new condition that I have. The scale that screams that my body is not ideal. The Instagram posts of others embracing their wanderlust and traveling the world, mocking my desire and inability to travel. All of these communicate one thing: I am not enough in every capacity!

As I realized that the feelings of inadequacy were boiling inside of me, I found myself in a funk. Why was I not enough for the guy, the boss, the doctor, the scale, or my own desires? Why wasn’t my 110% sufficient?!

Then, the Holy Spirit whispered to me, “Rach, you were enough for me. I couldn’t live without you so much that I died for you. I valued you that much.” Cue the waterworks… Christ did love me that much! Like WOAH. And regardless of the naysayers in life, nothing can change the fact that Christ saw me as valuable enough to die for me to gain a relationship with me.

In addition to that, even Jesus was not enough for the Jews! The world did not value the perfect human being or treat Him nicely. If the most incredible person to walk this Earth was not enough, I need to release my expectation that others will always love me and appreciate me. Humanity sees my imperfections, but God sees me through Christ-tinted glasses.

Even when I try to grasp that humankind will always see my limitations, why do I still feel like I am not and will not be enough? His name is the enemy, and he wants to destroy our purpose. So, he creates situations like those mentioned above to devalue us. Although he can sometimes be pretty convincing, we must remind ourselves that our Lord is an abundant supplier that meets our every need and empowers us to be conquerors:

God can give you all you need. He will give you more than enough. You will have everything you need for yourselves. And you will have enough left over to give when there is a need. {2 Corinthians 9:8 NLV}

No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. {Romans 8:37 NIV}

God will give us MORE THAN enough. Even though the enemy says we’ll never be or have enough, the Word says that we will always be enough in Christ. He gives us enough value, worth, power, courage, creativity, fresh ideas, purpose, love, ability, health, and compassion to last an eternity. Now, we have to embrace that!

Feelings of insufficiency will continue to arise until the day we die. Be real with yourself about that. Then, be a conqueror. Tell feelings of inadequacy to KISS YOUR GRITS; you are a POWERHOUSE in Christ!
